Latvian soldiers in the World War I. 1914 – 1918

When the World War I started, the territory of Latvia was a part of Russian Empire. People, who lived on this territory, have been involved into military activities from the first days of the war. 9 Latvian Riflemen battalions have been formatted in August 1915 as a part of 12th Russian army. 8 thousand solders voluntary entered into these battalions.

Wide exposition of presented items reflected the legendary fight of Latvians Riflemen. The exposition gets acquainted with other European states, bound with the war, arming and solders’ equipment.

Visited this exposition, you can see unique exhibits - Italian solders’ chest armour (weight 10kg), there are only several copies in the world, head armour “Farina” (weight 2 kg) , Riflemen’s uniform, relics and some other original items.
