Message Follows – Ziņojums sekos

No 12.aprīļa Latvijas Kara muzejā būs apskatāma izstāde "Ziņojums sekos"

The exhibition “Message Follows” is a glimpse into the development of the military partnership between the United States and Latvia. The cooperation between U.S. and Latvian soldiers and the fight to protect common values began more than a hundred years ago –during the Latvian War of Independence. The United States remained faithful to these values even during the darkest times of the 20th century – the U.S. never recognized Latvia's annexation by the Soviet Union in 1940. The U.S. supported the continued operation of the diplomatic missions of the Baltic states in Washington. Finally, after the restoration of Latvia's independence in 1991, the U.S. has become a strategic partner of Latvia and is an important ally in strengthening Latvia's defense capabilities.

The exhibition consists of memoirs of contemporaries and eyewitnesses of this cooperation, supplemented by historical evidence and exhibits from the collection of the Latvian War Museum. Although the main emphasis of the exhibition is placed on the military cooperation between the United States and Latvia since the early 1990s, the exhibition will also feature chronologically older historical evidences. For example, for the first time in the history of the War Museum, an item will be exhibited that describes the U.S. government's gratitude to Latvian-origin U.S. Army soldiers for participating in a common fight during the First World War.

Visitors will also be able to see samples of uniforms, equipment, and weapons from the Latvian War Museum's collection, which have been at the disposal of the Latvian National Armed Forces thanks to cooperation with the United States.

The exhibition's leitmotif is international military gestures and their explanations. Using an interactive simulation program specially developed for the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to learn the meaning and application of these gestures.

The exhibition “Message Follows” will be opened for visitors on the 4th floor of the Latvian War Museum from April 12.

Admission – free!
